Comprehensive Behavioral Healthcare has expanded and now offers Equestrian Therapy at our Roseland Acres Farm, located at 594 East Road, Tiverton, RI, 02878.
Equestrian therapy is a discipline that has shown many positive benefits such as increased confidence, self efficacy, self concept, communication, trust, perspective, self acceptance, increased impulse control and social skills and spiritual connection, while promoting appropriate boundaries and decreasing isolation and self doubt.
It is a modality that is useful for individuals, both young and older serving a wide range of psychological issues such as obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorder, depression, relational issues, survivors of abuse and alcohol, behavioral issues, interpersonal conflict, personality disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorders, and eating disorders, to name a few.
Individuals who may not participate in traditional therapeutic environments typically show increased interest and benefit from therapies that are held in the stable, on the trail, or with the animals and nature around them. This alternative setting is found to be both peaceful, and calming, which is indicated during times of unrest and discontentment. Quieting the storm within creates a sense of internal emotional stability, which is then generalized to close relationships.
It is important to strengthen our inner core while realizing a balanced expectation of those around us. We cannot change others and at times circumstances are out of our control, but we can manage our emotional reaction to the people and situations around us, maintaining internal stability, even when things do not go our way. Take the first step and come visit our equestrian facility or call 401-239-8928 to make an appointment for an initial consultation.
